WEDDING AT MONONA TERRACE

Mackenzie and Greg were wed on October 22 with a ceremony and reception at Monona Terrace in Madison, Wisconsin.

MEET MACKENZIE + GREG

Both Mackenzie and Greg studied undergrad physics at UW Madison. They are currently getting their doctorates at Ann Arbor. Mackenzie is studying applied physics and does a lot of mathematics. She might even work for NASA one day, but will likely work in the conductor industry where there it pays well. Greg works with plasma physic and lasers.

THE PROPOSAL

The couple decided when Mackenzie joined Greg in Ann Arbor that they would get married. Greg proposed to Mackenzie on a camping trip to the Arch.

WEDDING VISION & PLANNING

We didn’t have a detailed vision. We were just excited about being able to celebrate with our friends and family! The color palette is fall colors (marigold, cinnamon, and wine are the dress colors from David’s bridal). We are leaning into fall in the decor, having fall leaves and pumpkins in the centerpieces. However, our decor is not particularly rustic (no mason jars or burlap).

ALL IN THE DETAILS

We’re using seasonal flowers in the fall color palette. We also have hops in the bouquets. The wedding favors are homemade jams that the bride’s parents made.

DIY ELEMENTS

We have 4 DIY elements: the homemade jams for the wedding favors that the bride’s parents made, the arch for the flowers that the bride’s father made, the box for the wine box unity ceremony that the groom’s father made, and the wraps for all the women standing up that the groom’s mother knitted.

ADVICE TO OTHER BRIDES

You will hear a million and one pieces of advice, because your friends and family are excited and want to help you out. You don’t have to follow anyone’s advice if you don’t want to though!
