Jenni + Mike’s Wedding at the River Club of Mequon || Mequon, WI

WEDDING AT THE RIVER CLUB OF MEQUON

Jenni and Mike were wed on June 4th with a ceremony and reception at the River Club of Mequon in Mequon, Wisconsin.

MEET JENNI + MIKE

This adorable couple met on Tinder! They describe themselves as fun and goofy. According to Jenni, Mike is the sweetest and super caring.

Mike proposed to Jenni while they were on a walk at Kilbourn Reservoir Park. At the top of the hill, they went to take a selfie. Jenni looked over to find Mike down on one knee! She of course, said yes!

WEDDING VISION & PLANNING

Before Jennie and Mike jumped into wedding planning, we reflected on the countless number of weddings they were recently guests of. What stood out and which were the best weddings and why? Was it the detailed centerpieces, the delicious buffet dinners, or romantic string quartettes? No. The weddings they remembered most fondly were because they were the most fun! So, their vision for their wedding was anything that promoted a big, fun party!

The color palette consists of navy and mauve with gold accents. Although the theme is “Fun,” it can still be beautiful. The style fits with the classic country club venue. Simple, elegant, and romantic.

ALL IN THE DETAILS

Jenni and Mike donated to the Alzheimer’s Association in our guests’ honor in lieu of favors. This organization is important to the couple, both having had relatives suffer from this incurable disease. In addition to helping raise funds, the favor helped raise awareness of the Alzheimer Associate’s largest fundraiser, The Longest Day, hosted annually on the summer solstice in late June.

Since neither Jenni nor Mike are big fans of cake, they opted to host an ice cream cart as their dessert! It was fun selecting a curated list of 10 classic ice cream bar treats that guests can grab and enjoy. Instead of a traditional cake cutting, Jenni and Mike sliced into a Choco Taco® on their big day.

Jenni’s wedding gown was an off-the-shoulder, ivory dress from Essence of Australia. This lace and tulle ballgown is ultra-romantic, featuring French lace, a plunging sweetheart neckline, and sparkle. It would make any woman feel like a princess.

DIY ELEMENTS

One of Jenni’s hobbies is “diamond art” or “diamond paintings.” (Basically, it’s a paint-by-number image on sticky paper that you individually place small plastic gems according to the key instead of paint – Jenni highly recommends it, and there are so many patterns available on Amazon! To personalize the wedding décor, the table numbers were made with a blend of pink diamond art beads. Additionally, the couple DIY’d their escort cards, slicing collected wine corks and inserting a printed business card-sized name and table assignment.

Another unique element for the wedding that promoted Jenni and Mike’s vision of “Fun” was an LED light-up dancefloor! The dancefloor is the center of all the action, and it could not disappoint.

ADVICE TO OTHER BRIDES

Groom’s Advice: “Make sure one of you is a planner! There are so many things to do, so being organized is a must. And get a good DJ recommendation! We were lucky enough to preview our DJ at a friend’s wedding early in our engagement. The DJ runs the party, and it can make or break your event.”

Bride’s Advice: “As “the planner,” my advice is to communicate with your partner! At times, we became frustrated with one another: I annoyed with him because he wasn’t doing anything, and he annoyed with me because I was being a nag. Regularly checking in and discussing everything on my mind and constantly full to-do list helped us get on the same page. I didn’t have to keep bothering him about the same task repeatedly because he started getting it done right away, now understanding how many other things I had on my plate.”
