Meet Alyssa + Phillip

This adorable couple first met at Phil’s best friend’s high school graduation party. Nothing came of it then, but it was a fun introduction—they’d both be attending Wisconsin Lutheran College that fall.

Later in college, they became part of the same friend group and spent more time together. Both joined the choir and grew closer during their freshman year choir tour. That’s when their relationship officially began, and they’ve now been together for over three years!

Alyssa and Phil share a love for football and golf. On most fall Sundays, you’ll find them watching football together all afternoon. They both graduated from WLC in May 2021 and are now pursuing meaningful careers.

Phil is studying to become an occupational therapist and hopes to work in schools with students with disabilities. Alyssa works as a medical researcher focused on neurosurgery and concussions. She often works with former NFL players and hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in clinical neuropsychology. Her main research interest is traumatic brain injuries.

The Proposal

Alyssa and Phil had talked about taking a trip to Door County for quite some time. Finally, in October, they made it happen. They spent the day sightseeing and enjoying the fall colors.

As the sun began to set, Phil gave Alyssa a small gift—and then proposed! She was completely surprised and overjoyed. Even more special? A stranger happened to witness the moment and snapped a photo.

He approached them afterward and offered to text them the image. It was such a sweet, unexpected touch to an already perfect moment.
