Ami and Jay were wed on August 27th with a ceremony at St. Alphonsus in Greendale, Wisconsin, and reception at Brookfield Conference Center in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
Ami is always in a good mood, love spending time with family, and planning trip or activities. Jay is a jokester who is also big on family time and is a little more spontaneous and less of a planner than Ami.
Jay and Ami have been friends since they were 16 years old. This long history together makes them a little unsure when they “officially” started dating, but the couple knows they have been together for a long time.
The couple loves bowling and they usually go every Wednesday as they are a part of three bowling leagues. Ami and Jay enjoy Harley rides, wine tastings, and camping!
Jay decided he wanted to learn how to ride a motorcycle in the summer of 2020. He passed the new rider course in June and was eager to look to purchase a Harley. Ami jokingly told him “ring, before a Harley”. But Jay ended up going ring shopping in early July and found a Harley by the end of the month.
His plan was to have the ring in the saddlebag of the bike when he brought it home so that when Ami likely would have again joked about where is my ring he could pull it out. However, the ring wasn’t complete yet!
Fast forward to Christmas Eve (Ami’s favorite time of year), the couple were on the way to Ami’s parents’ house to celebrate. When they drove past Kessler’s so Ami said “Look honey, the open sign is on, want to stop?” and he replied “too late”. Ami just assumed since it was because they were driving past it. Little did she know her ring was in his pocket. He asked Ami’s dad that week! Jay proposed by distracting Ami with a gift to open from their dog, and when she looked up he was down on one knee in front of her entire family!
Ami and Jay pictured their wedding as a full day, shared with all of our friends and family. Having a big wedding was always their plan.
The wedding’s color pallet was cabernet and navy with gold accents in addition to white flowers and greenery. Ami’s gown from David’s Bridal features lace, long sleeves, and an open neckline. The couple’s favorite detail is their cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes in flavors: red velvet, confetti, lemon and snickerdoodle.
Jay’s dad hand-made all of the centerpieces. They loved the metal/gold pentagon/hexagon look but with their large wedding the centerpiece cost would have added up quickly. Ami and Jay came up with their version of the gold shapes using paper straws, hot glue, and spray paint instead!
“After you set a date, maybe set one “wedding date night” a week to discuss wedding planning (we should have it early on). It will spread out the work, and reduce stress. But most of all, have fun with planning, you are planning the best day of your life!” – Ami + Jay
Huge thank you to all of the amazing wedding vendors that made Ami and Jay’s day run seamlessly. Congratulations Ami and Jay on the start of your next great adventure 🙂
