Cherish + Matt’s Outdoor Wisconsin Wedding || Richfield, WI

Cherish and Matt’s stunning outdoor Wisconsin wedding took place at this adorable couple’s home in Richfield, WI. The property is a photographer’s dream, with gorgeous mature willow trees, barn foundation ruins, an open field and even a silo. There were so many options for beautiful wedding day images.

MEET CHERISH + MATT

Cherish and Matt are one of the sweetest couples that I have ever been blessed to photograph! They met rock climbing at Adventure Rock, where Matt worked in college. Cherish took a rock climbing class Matt was teaching. They climbed together a few times after class and then started getting together outside of the gym too.

THE PROPOSAL

Matt originally planned to propose to Cherish at Shalom Wildlife Zoo because of their shared love for animals and nature. But last-minute rain moved their date to Discovery World!

Matt planned with his two best friends to propose to Cherish at the aquarium tunnel of Discovery World. They waited for the tunnel to be empty, and then each friend blocked an end of the tunnel while Matt proposed!

WISCONSIN WEDDING PLANNING

Matt and Cherish knew right away they wanted a small event, and their backyard seemed like the perfect location for a relaxed Wisconsin wedding! The couple and their guests enjoyed yard games, a bonfire, and a Culver’s ice cream sundae bar for dessert!

The wedding colors ivory and purple were featured throughout the decor and day of wildflower florals by Bank of Flowers. Cherish and Matt’s love of nature shined through with save-the-dates, invites, and thank yous all printed on seed paper for guests to grow herbs and wildflowers of their own!

The officiant Judge Derek Mosley even called on Matt’s carpentry skills to build a box that would hold letters to each other for their very first anniversary!

CHERISH + MATT’S OUTDOOR WISCONSIN WEDDING

“It was just perfect!” says Matt. He also stated that “we wanted a small, relaxed wedding and that is exactly what we were able to achieve!”

These two love birds especially enjoyed that they were able to have plenty of time to visit with guests, enjoy dinner/dessert, and just have fun!

The couple was able to maintain a relaxed feel to their wedding by having a first look. By taking all of their couples photos before the ceremony, Matt and Cherish had more time mingling with friends and family!

Cherish and Matt’s favorite moment of the day was dinner! Which I can attest was DELICIOUS! Smoked at 225 food truck catered the event, and did an amazing job at creating a great meal of southern food with an Asian flair!

CHERISH + MATT’S ADVICE TO OTHER BRIDES AND GROOMS

“Make sure your wedding is YOUR day! Yes, other people will be there celebrating, but make sure it is what you want it to be.

Listen to other’s input and thoughts, but don’t be afraid to do your own thing instead of being pressured into wedding traditions. Also, don’t feel pressured to invite everyone. We wanted a very small wedding which made selecting the invite list difficult.

Just remember that it is your day, so you make the rules! Plan it your way, so that you have fun and create the best memories!”

Ali was amazing to work with! She was very helpful and a total pro.

We were planning the wedding ourselves, so other than an approximate ceremony and dinner time we didn’t really have a schedule. Ali helped us layout a very detailed schedule and stay on it or even ahead of it.

Ali worked great with us and our family for formal pictures. She was very good with my little nephew who didn’t want to cooperate the whole time.
