Jackie and Sam were wed on May 14th with a ceremony and reception at the Holiday Inn MKE Riverfront in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
According to Sam, Jackie is bubbly and outgoing. Jackie says Sam is a goof but a gentle giant. This adorable and sweet couple met online! Since Sam is a chef, the couple loves to cook. Jackie mostly supervises while Sam cooks! They also LOVE just to enjoy days off. Even if that means running errands or raking a million leaves, just being together is what they are all about.
Sam and Jackie were out to lunch with Sam’s sister, brother, and Mom. This was pretty typical for them to do when Sam’s sister is in town. But afterward, Sam INSISTED they get coffee, which is Jackie’s favorite, and go to the park. Sam told Jackie that since it was October, you never know when we are going to have another great day before spring. While walking through Seven Bridges park, Sam told Jackie to turn around. There he was with a ring asking her to be his wife. Jackie had NO IDEA and was in complete shock and over the moon happy. She excitedly accepted!
According to Jackie and Sam, the original vision for their wedding was absolutely nothing like what they actually planned! They decided on sage green, gold, white and black for the color palette. While making sure to use a ton of greenery and black and white signs.
The cake was “naked” with just a few white roses and greenery plus a gold S on the top. The flowers were mostly greenery (Italian Ruscus and olive branches) with some white roses. Jackie’s gown was simple yet elegant, with a three-point bustle in the back. The bridesmaids wore sage green dresses that were floor-length but in different styles so the girls could show off their own personalities! Jackie and Sam really wanted to keep it simple and let their love be the main focus and shining aspect of the wedding!
The groom lost his father a decade ago, so Jackie and Sam decided instead of a guest book, they would have a phone where people could leave them messages! Which is one of the coolest ideas! They feel that being able to hear the excitement and have all of the voices of their loved ones is going to be irreplaceable in the future. They will be able to have their well-wishes forever, and it was their favorite aspect of our wedding.
Also, since Sam is a chef, the couple decided to give away his secret bbq rub as a favor, which really puts an element of THEM in the reception.
In addition, all the signs were do-it-yourself, along with the wooden pallets behind the neon sign.
“Honestly, do it your way. Everyone says it’s YOUR day, and it gets to be overwhelming trying to please everyone!! If we could do it again, we’d probably fly away and just make it 100% about US! We’re so excited to get married and start our life, and it really has been a TEAM effort to plan this wedding. We use one night a week as “date night/wedding planning night” so it doesn’t get so overwhelming to get it all done at once!!!” -Jackie + Sam
