Their day at Historic Courthouse 1893 was equal parts timeless elegance and surprise-filled celebration.

Meet Kaylee + Derek

Kaylee and Derek’s story began in college, but it wasn’t until years later—thanks to a Facebook notification—that their love story truly started. After reconnecting over drinks, Derek asked Kaylee on a date… and the rest is history.

Together, they love sports, TV marathons, and spontaneous date nights. Their energy as a couple is warm, fun-loving, and full of joy.

The Proposal

Derek proposed the weekend before Christmas during a family celebration. With everyone gathered, he handed out cards—only Kaylee’s asked, “Will you marry me?”

As Derek got down on one knee, Kaylee’s family and best friend joined in on the surprise. What started as a gift exchange turned into the sweetest, impromptu engagement party.

A Fairy-Tale Wedding Vision

Kaylee always dreamed of a romantic, fairy-tale wedding—and that vision came to life. She chose soft blue, eucalyptus green, and white for their May celebration. The timeless elegance began with her princess-cut engagement ring and continued with a dreamy ball gown and lush, white florals.

Details That Made the Day

The ceremony and reception were filled with thoughtful, personal touches. Lush eucalyptus adorned the spaces. A light-up dance floor, four cold spark machines, and a photo booth made the evening unforgettable.

Although they opted for donuts instead of a traditional cake, Kaylee and Derek still shared a simple white cake for their cutting moment. It was the perfect blend of classic and fun.

Making the Day Flow Seamlessly

While the couple celebrated, we worked behind the scenes to keep things on track. Having two photographers allowed us to split bridal party portraits and capture more angles without slowing things down. This meant more time for them to enjoy the day—and more moments beautifully preserved in their gallery.

Unique Touches and Fun Surprises

Kaylee designed their guest book using engagement photos, and it became a favorite keepsake. They also had custom napkins and a “Derek ❤️ Kaylee” sign displayed at both the ceremony and reception.

No one saw the light-up dance floor coming, and the cold spark machines made their grand entrance and first dance feel like a full-on concert moment.
