I have known Kyle for most of my life. Being cousins kind of works like that. As a kid, I was able to see Kyle deeply love many things such as watermelon, fishing, music, and drag racing.
Kayla and Kyle met through a mutual friend, and I was happy to see that his love for her ran even deeper than his love of cars or music. I was blessed to be asked to photograph their wedding day, and so thankful to take part in the celebration.
Kayla and Kyle carefully choose their wedding ceremony and reception location as well as all of their other vendors. Together they had it all planned.
No more than a month before their wedding, COVID flipped their carefully planned wedding upside down. Their venue was no longer able to hold the ceremony and reception, and every detail now needed to be shuffled!
Like so many brides of 2020, Kayla was thrown into planning an entire second wedding. Despite the fact, she hadn’t been able to enjoy the first.
Thankfully, Kayla and Kyle were able to keep their date, and most of their vendors. They moved their wedding to The Ingleside Hotel in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.
The morning of their wedding Kayla and Kyle were told the unexpected and horrible news. The Ingleside Hotel had received a bomb threat. Local police and hotel staff suspected it was just a threat. But they rightfully wanted to ensure the safety of all guests and patrons. An evacuation of the entire hotel began just a few hours before the ceremony was scheduled to start.
The bomb squad had arrived but would take quite a few hours to sweep the building. Kyle and Kayla waited patiently in the parking lot. After several hours, they were informed that the hotel would likely be cleared so. Sadly only leaving a few hours before their originally scheduled ceremony time.
With more strength and grace than could have ever been expected of them, Kayla and Kyle made the difficult decision to cancel their carefully planned reception. They would continue with a small wedding ceremony with only their bridal party and immediate family.
When given the all-clear, members of the bridal party and close family began preparations for Kayla and Kyle’s wedding. While it wasn’t what they planned Kayla and Kyle were still having a ceremony. They were happy to be able to start their marriage.
Kayla and Kyle got married in an outdoor wedding ceremony at The Ingleside Hotel gazebo. They wrote and read their own heart touching vows. Something that the couple is really glad they decided to do!
They were joined by an amazing bridal party and close family. With a little bit of luck and one amazing bridesmaid, Kayla and Kyle were able to find a private room at a local restaurant. Thunder Bay Grille graciously hosted a celebratory dinner for Kyle, Kayla, and those in attendance.
Kayla and Kyle plan to hold a reception sometime in the future to celebrate with family and friends. Congratulations Kayla and Kyle on the start of your next great adventure! I know you can overcome anything that comes your way!
Kayla and Kyle describe their wedding as perfectly imperfect chaos. They recommend you don’t sweat the small stuff because truly the details don’t matter; just know if there is enough love between the two of you everything will have a way of working out just right.
Ali is absolutely wonderful! Her photography speaks for itself and she captured our love perfectly on our wedding day. We had some issues the day of our wedding, that were out of our control, but Ali jumped right in and created a new schedule for us to ensure we could still get the photos that were most important to us. She made us feel so comfortable and at ease. Ali is such a beautiful soul and her photography reflects that.
A huge thank you goes to Kayla and Kyle’s wedding vendors!
